Walking is an easy, fun and healthy activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages! Not only does walking decrease your risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but it also improves your sense of well-being. Did you know that research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for every hour of regular exercise! That’s a great return on your investment! In addition, walking is a great way to socialize, spend time with family, and enjoy the outdoors.
Walk with a Doc is an innovative program that was founded by cardiologist Dr. David Sabgir in Columbus, OH. It has now grown nationwide. This program is for everyone that is interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. At every Walk with a Doc event, you get to learn about an interesting health topic from a community physician and then while you walk at your own pace, you will have the opportunity to converse with local docs! After the walk there will be light refreshments.
You don’t need any special gear to participate. Just wear a comfortable pair of shoes and come alone or with a friend or family member. Walking events will be held monthly!
