Walking: free and simple
Need a little motivation to find time to walk? Enjoy learning? Deserve a break?
According to the American Heart Association, walking has significant health benefits. And, research shows that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise! That’s motivation.
Walking also has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity. It’s low impact and easier on your joints than running. It is safe for almost everyone – with a doctor’s ok – including people with orthopedic issues, heart conditions and those who are more than 20 percent overweight.
Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in a healthier lifestyle. Cardiologist David Sabgir, MD, started this program in Columbus, OH, in 2005 and it has expanded throughout the country. There’s a brief talk by one of our providers about a health topic each month. While you walk at your own pace, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.
Just grab comfortable shoes and a friend or family member and join us. Well-behaved dogs on a leash also welcome.
