At Walk with a Doc, we have a mission to get as many people moving as possible. That is why we jumped at the chance to be included as a partner in the Surgeon General’s Step It Up USA Challenge. According to the Challenge website, over 60 billion steps were logged during the 2 weeks. That is equivalent to 1,152 times around the Earth! We applaud all of our Walk with a Doc Chapters for the part they played in circling the globe.
Take a look at what we accomplished after one week…
At the beginning of the campaign, we told you participating Walk Chapters would be eligible for two Walk giveaways. The Walk Chapter with the most walkers participating in the Challenge would receive a special visit from Walk Founder and Friday Newsletter Funny Guy, Dr. David Sabgir. Our friends from Scotts Miracle-Grohad a whopping 968 team members! Congratulations, Scotts, for having the most participants registered.
The second prize went to the group that submitted a selfie (or two, or three, or ten) from their Walk. We received several entries and are excited to share the photos on our home page and a $150 grocery gift card to Cleveland, Texas for their healthy selfie. Thanks for showing the world that you’re moving!
We’d also like to give a special shout out to Tyler, Texas for the highest daily average number of steps. No surprise there! Thank you for your competitive spirit and commitment to physical activity Tyler!
Thank you to all of our teams for walking and logging some major steps over these two weeks. We hope you learned a few ways to get in more steps throughout your daily routine, and we encourage you keep trackof all your steps in the future. Walk with a Doc challenges you to keep stepping it up. Keep on walking, rolling and moving. Every single day. 150 minutes per week.
