Take a Step Toward Better Health at Walk with a Doc

WALK

Walking is one of the best things you can do for both your physical and mental health! At each event, you’ll have the opportunity to walk at a pace and distance that you’re comfortable with.

LEARN ABOUT HEALTH

Each event starts with a brief discussion on a health topic from a local physician, healthcare provider, or medical student. You’ll also have the opportunity to chat with the leader and ask questions during the walk.

MEET NEW PEOPLE

Research shows that socializing with others is extremely important for our health. Bring a friend or meet a new friend at the walks.

Topic: Movement As Medicine

You’re invited to join our Nurse Practitioner and occasionally a special guest MD or therapist for a walking group designed to support your health, no experience or fitness level needed. Just come as you are.

Why Walking Helps

•       Movement can help regulate stress hormones like cortisol

•       Walking supports brain chemicals linked to mood,  serotonin and dopamine

•       Regular movement is a helpful complement to medication and therapy, not a replacement

What to Expect

  • A short welcome and check-in
  • A few minutes of easy-to-understand education from our Psych NP
  • A 20–30 minute walk together,  go at your own pace
  • Time to chat 1:1 with the NP or therapist during the walk
  • A closing circle to share how you feel and set one small goal for the week

Good to Know

  • This group is open to all people, RSVP but no sign-up or other fees required, try it once or make it a regular event.
  • We currently meet 1 time per month, with plans to meet more frequently as the group grows
  • Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
  • This group supports your health through movement and socialization, it does not replace your regular medical care.
