Join us for Walk with a Doc – a free community walking program! Each event is led by local clinicians and is open to people of all ages and abilities. The program allows participants to safely take a walk, learn about current health topics, and meet new people. We hope to see you at our next walk!
We are excited to introduce WWAD to the Town of Brighton & Town of Perinton, NY! The chapter will be physician led with Dr. Liz Munoz serving as our Walk Champion/Lead Physician.
Dr. Munoz is a graduate of Brighton High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology & Spanish Literature from Columbia College, a Doctorate of Medicine from University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and a Masters in Public Health from University of California at Berkeley. Dr Munoz completed her residency training in Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine and Public Health at University of Rochester Medical Center and she is triple Board Certified in Lifestyle Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Public Health and Family Medicine and is an ACE Certified Health Coach.
Our WWAD chapter aims to come to together across health systems and create a community wide collaboration to “inspire communities through movement and conversation.” Dr. Munoz, along with local clinician volunteers licensed in New York State with advanced healthcare degrees (Physicians including Residents & Medical Students, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, LCSWs etc) will serve as walk leaders and provide local expertise on a variety of health topics focused on Preventative and Lifestyle Medicine. Walk with a doc is an evidence based program that combines key components including: physical activity, social connection, time in nature, and health education.
We are grateful to Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Institute and several individual donors for their financial support and to Monroe County Medical Society for their collaboration in promoting WWAD in our local healthcare community.
