Take a Step Toward Better Health at Walk with a Doc

WALK

Walking is one of the best things you can do for both your physical and mental health! At each event, you’ll have the opportunity to walk at a pace and distance that you’re comfortable with.

LEARN ABOUT HEALTH

Each event starts with introductions. We’ll then start the walk, meeting new people and starting new conversations about health and wellness. About half way through the walk, we’ll stop and talk about the “health topic of the month”. Our goal is to get active, educate and empower individuals in learning and taking an active role in their health and wellness journey. You’ll also have the opportunity to chat with the leader and ask questions during the walk.

MEET NEW PEOPLE

Research shows that socializing with others is extremely important for our health. Bring a friend or meet a new friend at the walks.

Topic: Social Connection

I chose this day for our monthly walk intentionally to come together. This month we’ll be talking about the Heart & Health Benefits of Social Connection. February 14 has been the holiday that implies that love = romance. But human connection is broader: friendship, community, shared experience, presence, this is love. These connections strengthen our hearts.

People who are socially connected live longer, get less sick, handle stress better, and have lower rates of heart disease, stroke, depression, dementia, and early mortality. The risks of isolation are not just emotional — they’re biological and measurable. Connection doesn’t have to be romantic. It doesn’t have to be deep or perfect. It just has to be human and consistent

Walking side-by-side lowers social pressure. Talking is optional. Belonging is built through shared presence, not how many red roses or chocolate dipped strawberries you receive. So today, we’ll walk together. Leaving Trailhead Cafe to Miwok Park, taking a pause to connect with each other, being in nature, sitting in silence, breathing fresh cool air, and sharing our gratitude with each other.
