Big 2020 News

Posted on 01/10/2020 by Walk with a Doc HQ
Good morning! Ladies and gentlemen – it’s a beautiful day. Happy New Year; let’s break bread. Ready for some TMI?
I messed up my back 7 months ago, missed a few days of work, but that’s it, and it’s now all better. I was fortunate to recover without surgery, injection – nothing – just took a little patience. But, for 5-6 months I was unable to be active and I put on 8-10 pounds (spent a lot of time reading and doing Legos). During that time, our entire cardiology practice moved (they took me with them) and the blood draw ( Hemoglobin A1c ) for our new system showed I wasn’t quite pre-diabetic, but let’s just say it bought the house immediately next door and asked if I wanted to come over for a piece of cake.
Is there a way to beat that down ? There absolutely is. 150+ minutes/week of physical activity and some modest (5%) weight loss. My wife, Kristin and I did what any other couple would do in that situation – we headed to Cuba for some detox. Last week involved 5 days of gritty cycling, 7 days of beans and rice, lots of SPF and tons of interactions with a beautiful collection of resilient Cuban people. A little rum.
1 week of no phone, no internet and therefore no politics. Hot da**. Detox.
Now, I’m not tan, but rested, and very ready.
Let me please share why 2020 will be your best year and our best year. We are going to work harder than ever to be there for you with unwavering support to include our position on hot topics, asinine newsletters, spot-on dietary advice from the experts, our favorite recipes, your favorite recipes, and hefty membership cards (see below). A little more of an inside peek at what our team has been focusing on for 2020?
Look, over the last 15 years, you have blessed us with a ton of chapters. As we marvel and grow with you, we are intentionally spending 2020 sewing back into the game-changing work you are doing in the field. Here, please check out this video Bryan put together – it speaks volumes.
Just in time for New Year’s Resolutions (3 in 5 Americans make them), we are coming out with new resources to support our everyday goals to be healthier. At Walk with a Doc, we push the power of movement, and are moving to now also talk about how overall healthy living involves the right nutrition as well. Adding ten minutes of walking to your daily routine and swapping out bad fats with good fats at mealtime can be small, easy changes that can make a big difference in the health of your heart. We’re honored to partner with Fresh Avocados – Love One Today (LOT)® in 2020. Delicious, heart-healthy avocados are a great partner as they contain naturally good fats and provide heart health benefits without sacrificing taste and satisfaction. Start getting your fill here .
As I mentioned, for those interested, we are introducing 100 Walk with a Doc Memberships Cards – you know those thick, heavy credit cards that clink when you drop them on Butcher Block. Prototypes are in the mail to our HQ and there’s a newsletter where that came from.
There are a few other gems in development but I’m knocking on 600 words and I know how you loooove my long posts.
Happy Friday and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
