Good morning!
I’m in such a great mood. Oh my gosh. It’s Friday, I saw a ton of patients this week and so many of them are diligently working on their health journey. That never fails to inspire, all day long. The weekend weather is going to be spectacular in many areas this weekend. Finally, if there are any football fans among us, last night’s NFL game (Falcons v. Bucs) marked Day 1 of 56 straight days of college football or NFL games. Pass the guacamole, hummus, celery sticks, and red bell pepper slices – I’m about to be real full.
Okay, I can’t wait any longer – here are a few reasons I think you are amazing. Seriously.
1. You’re reading through this newsletter and it’s not the first WWAD nl you’ve read. You don’t have to. You could be playing NYT games, doomscrolling (please don’t do that), or 37 other things, but you’re not. You’re here at our family breakfast – thank you! I’ll have this btw, thank you very much, looks delicious and filling.
2. You treat everyone you meet with respect and sometimes that can be challenging. You, however, take the time to tell yourself, ‘Hey, we’re all good at heart. Yes, I have some differences from this person, but 100% chance they’re dealing with stuff just like I am, maybe even more. They don’t show it though, do they? Good for them. They are impressive and you respect them because of it. Look at you?! You are indeed amazing.
3. You walk. You know that it’s important to carve out of your day for 100 different reasons. And you may say, hey – “What else can I do where I get 100 birds with one stone?” Not many, so why not take advantage of the ‘two-fer’. How much should you walk? The more the merrier. Let it fly!
I know a bunch of incredibly caring volunteer physicians who say it is the single most important thing you can do to increase your quality and quantity of life. A bunch of them told me.
4. You are a survivor! Think of ALL the stuff you’ve had to overcome, and look at you. You’re still here, and you are stronger than ever. You just wake up the next day, and BOOM! let’s go do this. You look at life as a gift and you make stuff happen. Some days can be rough, but somehow you make it look easy waiting for the day soon to come when you just put the pedal down and GO! Beautiful.
5. You know how important nature and being outside is to you, and your friends. You sit/eat/walk outside when you can, pick up errant trash, and smile at the squirrels (the one holding that acorn with his two cute little front paws). You’re just a good person.
6. You make others feel good about who they are. We all know that you didn’t have to say ‘that’ or do ‘that’ – but you did, because you are a caring person. Maybe even more than you think.
7. You looked up, smiled, and said hi when you saw that person who was about to walk past you. You didn’t have to. There was a good chance they might have left you ‘hangin’, but ‘Who cares’. You said ‘Life is short and I want to spread some joy’ And, you did it. Thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you.
8. You’re not afraid to be yourself. If you’re anything like me, it may have taken you a little longer than you would’ve liked, but in the end, you realize you are your happiest self when you are true to yourself and I love that. That inner confidence shines brighter than you know.
9. You’re vulnerable. There are plenty of times when the safest thing is to nod your head when someone shares something personal. But no, not you, you gulp and jump right in the mix and make that connection. If you’re going to share that, then I’m going to share THIS. Boom! Things just got real and you and your new acquaintance just got a lot closer to having a very real friendship.
I’ve got a lot more but we’re hitting our word count and you’ve given us enough time for one morning. Please go forth and share your abundant energy with all those lucky enough to cross your path this Friday.
Just wanted to let you know that we ‘see’ you and we know you’re going the extra mile
