Good morning.
I don’t feel foolish this morning, but I do feel hungry.
Just about any time any of us get around politics we are inundated with a variation of the same phrase,“We’re so divided.”
That’s only one way of looking at it.The way that doesn’t work. That’s the cop-out way. That’s the easy way. That’s the resigned way. The lazy way.The bad way.
That’s not our way.Your way and my way.
All of us DO want to get along. We DO want to be happy. We do want to be less stressed.Well, we can.Easy.
What if we turned that around? What if our new phrase was,“We have a ton in common.”Because, we do.To me, this is the way we are going to come together. And, it’s easy. There are so many things in our lives that we ALL share.
We’re all scared. We all love.We all cry.We all get angry. We all cringe at bad jokes, then we laugh.Together.
All of us.Every single possible race, religion, and background.
It’s time.
We are all kind.We are all loving. Now, we stop the lazy, knee-jerk reaction of division.
We smile. We take a deep breath. We think about the person next to us, across from us, with us.
They’re scared like us.They’re nervous like us.Like us, they’re dying to listen and dying to be heard.
We can do that. All of us can easily do that. We’re all better than the status quo.
Let’s elevate.Let’s listen.Let’s smile.Let’s find that thing. It may only be one thing, it may be a little tough, but it’s there. We know it’s there.
Thanks for being here with me this morning.Enjoy this beautiful Friday. I’m off to go listen to some hearts.david
