Enrique Torres sheds 160 Pounds through Walk with a Doc

Corpus Christi, TX – In a remarkable journey of determination and perseverance, Enrique Torres Jr, a resident of Corpus Christi has achieved an incredible milestone, shedding an astounding 160 pounds and going from a size 7X to 2X through his commitment to a healthier lifestyle. Enrique’s journey began with a single step supported by joining his local chapter of a national health initiative, Walk with a Doc, igniting a transformation that has inspired others.

Enrique’s story is one of resilience and unwavering dedication. Facing health challenges and feeling overwhelmed by his weight, he took the courageous decision to embark on a journey towards better health. A pivotal moment came when he discovered Walk with a Doc, a program sponsored by the Nueces County Medical Society, designed to encourage physical activity while providing opportunities for individuals to engage with healthcare professionals in a relaxed setting.

“I was encouraged to begin walking with the local Walk with a Doc group by physician and a friend, Dr. Ruben Pedraza,” Enrique shared. “My first walk was tough, but it motivated me to work hard, to become more active and get more fit.”

Through consistent participation in Walk with a Doc, Enrique found a supportive community that kept him motivated, and slowly but surely, his endurance improved. Now, he works out in some way on an almost daily basis. He has progressed to completing several 5K runs and has also joined a bike group, TLC (Team Life Cyclers), which has also been monumental in supporting his fitness journey. Enrique’s goal is to complete the 66-mile Conquer the Coast bike ride in September.

Dr. Matt Bayazitoglu, who leads the local Corpus Christi Walk with a Doc program, commended Enrique’s dedication. “Enrique’s commitment to his health is truly inspiring. His journey exemplifies the power of small steps and the profound impact they can have on overall well-being. It has been amazing to witness his fitness journey.”

Enrique’s transformation goes beyond just numbers on a scale. He has embraced a holistic approach to health, incorporating nutritious eating habits and regular physical activity into his daily routine. His journey serves as an example for anyone facing similar challenges, proving that with determination and support, significant change is possible.

Enrique has some advice for others looking to begin their health journeys: “Get out there and walk. Invite friends and family. Start a group. Go to the gym. Make it fun. Socialize. People do fall off the wagon. When it happens, depend on your buddies to help push you back up and get going again.”

“It all started with 15 steps in my kitchen – then 16. Then, I walked with a doc when I was ready to get out in the community. If I can do it, you can too,” Enrique encouraged.
