On this day 20 years ago, Dr. David Sabgir laced up his tennis shoes, hopped in the car with his family, and drove to the park – something they did nearly every weekend.
But this time was different.
To his surprise, dozens of patients and community members had accepted his invitation to join him at the very first “Walk with a Doc” event.
They walked together, shared health tips, socialized, and had fun – and they’ve continued to do so nearly every Saturday for the last 20 years.
Since that day, the Walk with a Doc movement has now spread across the US and to 40+ countries around the world. Thousands of doctors have invited their patients to join them for walks – sparking hope, motivation, and transforming lives.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.
To our Walk Leaders – your care, compassion, and dedication have made this movement possible. You’ve shared your time, expertise, and built meaningful connections in your communities. Thank you for truly “walking the walk.”
To our walkers – you are the heart and soul of this movement. Your strength, resilience, and stories remind us daily of the power of community and wellness. You continue to inspire us with every step you take.
Dr. Sabgir – thank you for your vision, your leadership, your humor, and your passion for making this world a healthier, happier place. We are forever grateful for you!
