Good morning!
Things have been amazing in Walkanda this week. While we are saddened by the week’s losses, we are buoyed by your incredible desire to transform your communities.
There are three things I would like to discuss today. Guidelines, Time Magazine, and a 50 Mile Walk. Wha-wha-what-what!
Turns out moving around is good for you. Here are the Updated Physical Activity Guidelines to prove it. Careful when you touch it, it’s hot. If you’ve hit your reading quotient for the week, here’s an easily digestible format from our sister station (wannabe-sister station).
What did you say? I’m sorry I missed that. Oh! You’re reading this on your treadmill desk?Brilliant. You should only get one if you want to increase your creativity, have more energy, be happy, and virtually live in Walkanda – otherwise…
When we first started out in 2005, a few people asked how would we know when we ‘made it’? Back then it was easy. “Alex, I’ll take Famous 5-O’s for a thousand” Stilllllll waiting on Oprah. So we switched to… Obama. 8 years come and gone. So, In late 2016 we pivoted toTime Magazine. As soon as we get in Time Magazine? Oh, that’s it! Drop the Mic, it’s all over. I’m going to buy a beautiful blue boat, name it It’s About Time (get it?) and move on to my next phase. I’ll call you Salt, you call me Pepa and it’s Shake your Thang with a Doc.
Well, guess who’s mentioned on page 20 of this week’s Time Magazine with some friends. Please, don’t blink, you’ll miss it. But…that tiny spot alone helped us get 30 requests to start Walks this week. Rachael caught me on tape seeing it for the first time.
Excuse me, Dr. Happy Pants, did you say something about a 50 Mile Challenge earlier?
Started with Teddy Roosevelt in 1908.
55 years later, JFK reignited the flame and sent it into a national craze (1963).
55 years later? Well lookie, lookie. There is plenty to finalize, but this much we know is true.
Our very ‘first’ WWAD fundraiser will occur in Columbus, Ohio in April/May of 2019. We will cap it at 100 participants (we’ve only been telling a few friends over the past month and there are now 76 spots left). We’ll walk 50 miles in one day.
There will be a unlimited supply of baked goods and other sick inaugural swag.
It’s going to be a 20-hour party. The 24 verbal commitments includes a cast of characters. More to come. If you want to be kept up to date on the 50, please respond to this email (subject line wwad50) or call us at 614.714.0407, Bryan is lonely.
