Good morning!
17 years ago, Dr. Andrew Freeman, while still in cardiology training, called my cell (I was standing in our front yard at the time). He enthusiastically shared that he believed in what we were doing with Walk with a Doc. That beautiful spring day is memorable to me because it was very important to the organization and me at that point. He validated us when we needed it.
At a time when most of medicine was still centered within clinic walls, Andrew saw the power of stepping outside them. He understood that real health happens in community, in conversation, and often during something as simple and as powerful as a walk.
Over the years, Andrew has become not only a cornerstone of Walk with a Doc but also a national leader in cardiology. And yet, despite his influence and expertise, he has always remained grounded in what matters most: showing up, connecting with people, and making health feel accessible. Plus, he’s a super-friendly guy that you just like being around.
That’s what makes his impact so remarkable. He brings credibility and compassion in equal measure. He meets people where they are. And he has helped thousands feel more confident, more informed, and more hopeful about their health.
In a world that often celebrates big moments, Andrew’s legacy reminds me of something else, the quiet power of consistency that has never faltered for one single moment. Sixteen years of showing up. Sixteen years of walking alongside others. Sixteen years of leading not just with knowledge, but with heart.
At Walk with a Doc, we often talk about the ripple effect. The possibility of one walk, one conversation, or one connection changing a life. Andrew has created more of those ripples than we can count.
And we are all better for it. Thank you, Dr. Freeman. We are humbled and honored that you are in our Walk family.
